Frozen smoothies to celebrate the return of fine weather, or to make it come faster!
From mixed fruits and vegetables!
Infinite mixes of flavors and colors!
Ingredients for about 850 ml. smoothie
- 1 mango
- 2 big apples
- 1 handful of red fruits (fresh or frozen)
- vanilla powder
- 1 apple juice
- 1 orange juice
- juice of 1/4 lemon
- 5 carrots juice
- 2 large spinach leaves juice
This list of ingredients is just one example of an infinity of possibilities …
The principle I apply to make a smoothie is
- to blend some “soft” fruits and vegetables (mango, banana, apple, pear, red fruits, avocado, …)
- with juice extracted from juicy fruits and vegetables (apples, citrus fruits, pineapples, grapes, spinach leaves, carrots, beetroot, watercress, cucumber,…).
The best is to use as much vegetables as possible, (between one third and an half for example), while maintaining a good sweet taste.
Fiber, juice, a bit of sweetness, a little acidity, green leaves, a few hours in the freezer … a recipe for homemade ice cream or sorbet healthy and delicious!
You can make them in a classic ice cube tray by putting small peaks before freezing … or buy ice cream moulds (I bought mine on site sans-bpa.com).
You can also make multicolored frozen smoothies by mixing all the ingredients except the darkest (red fruits) and pouring this first part to the bottom of the moulds. You then mix the rest of the mixture with the red fruits and pour this second part on the top of the mould.
If the height of the moulds allows it, you can even make several colored tiers. The smoothie has to be very thick, so that the different colors do not mix …
Once the moulds are filled, a bit of smoothie often remains: it is delicious to drink it directly! After effort comes comfort!
